We can divide the symptoms we feel when we have PMS into two types - physical and emotional. These symptoms usually appear in the last two weeks of our menstrual cycle. Whilst most women have some discomfort before their periods, those that experience PMS suffer from symptoms that can affect their quality of life and ability to go about their daily business.
The most common physical symptoms include:
Bloating and water retention
Tender breasts that may also be swollen
Cravings for sweet foods
Emotional symptoms include:
Irritability or irrational anger
Dramatic and sudden shifts in mood or temperament
